Behind the Scenes: Ellie Sanderson Catwalk Shoot at Blenheim Palace

INSPIRATION

Despite having won ‘Best Dress Retailer Website’ at the Perfect Wedding Awards in 2013, Ellie Sanderson had no intention of putting her digital feet up to rest. Late nights, early starts, secret meetings, and tight deadlines over the course of nearly five months resulted in the fabulous creation that is elliesanderson.co.uk.

Now if Ellie isn’t browsing our website you can find her on certain online designer shoe boutiques (think Choo!), and a particular world famous fashion website, now better known by the acronym for As Seen On Screen. It was these high fashion, digital sources of inspiration that encouraged our exciting new features online.

We are proud to soon be launching online feature previews from the Ellie Sanderson Catwalk Show, filmed at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, on a large selection of our dress pages. See the fabric sway, the trains billow, and the sophistication ooze from our stunning models styled to perfection.

7am: The Ellie Sanderson girls arrived in the boutique bright and early, collecting the gowns that had been selected for the runway. Last minute searching for the button looper ensued but it wasn’t long before we hit the road towards Blenheim Palace in the rural market town of Woodstock.

8.15am:  We arrived at the Palace and the stunning models, Adele, Jade, and Sarah were sent straight into hair and make up. Creative hair director Steve from Electric Oxford demonstrated his mastery of hair creating romantic styles we just know you will be inspired by.

Katie Reay Scott and fellow MakeUp Artist Charlie eagerly set to work on the three girls, transforming the natural beauties into stunning bride-to-be’s, with classic neutrals and vintage inspiration the theme of the day.

9am: Meanwhile, the technical side of the filming was underway; Camera tracks were set up and lighting equipment constructed. The London based  Online Post Production were now almost ready to shout “Lights, Camera, Action!”

We had chosen to film in the stunning Orangery room, a wing of Blenheim Palace with striking Baroque architecture, a private entrance, and breathtaking views of the Italian Garden. Light flooded through the long glass roof, the large arched windows, and reflected around the high ceilings. Chandeliers and draped curtains set the scene, whilst the Essential team perfected the décor with magnificent floral displays, also providing bouquets to compliment.

Our very own David Bostock, otherwise known as The Bridal Photographer was ready to capture the day as a ‘fly on the wall’. This partly involved capturing Videographer Mark Shiperley in action! Mark did a fantastic job; pop along to our Designers pages and click on your favourite dresses to view their videos.

9.30am: Ellie and her sidekicks (otherwise known as Laura, Charlie, Georgina, and Acacia) had dressed the models, styled their looks with veils, headpieces, and furs, and sent them down the aisle, ready to strut their stuff! The Ellie Sanderson Catwalk was officially underway!  Read more about the accessories we chose in tomorrow’s blog post; Styling the Shoot.

5pm: Our incredible Planner and chief organizer Helen Masters was still standing in her fabulous heels, whilst the rest of us had just about made it through in flats! However, there was just enough time to transform the Ellie Sanderson girls from hard working stylists to glamorous divas on the catwalk!

7pm: We had delivered the dresses back to the boutiques they call home, and made our own way home towards a large glass of wine!
