BRIDAL STYLING WITH JUSTINE

Surrounded by wedding gowns, each one gorgeous in a different way, I wondered how I would ever pick one. I’m sure this is exactly how most of you ladies felt or feel about picking a wedding dress at the beginning of your journey. However, I wasn’t picking one for myself but for my model Sarah. I needed the perfect dress for her, something that reflected her personal style, flattered her body shape and most importantly showcased and allowed her to feel as beautiful as she is. Three things that we ensure every Ellie Sanderson bride finds in her dress.

Working each day with wedding gowns from such amazing designers and learning the beauty of each individual collection allowed me to pick a dress that suited Sarah perfectly. I decided that my theme would be ‘Timeless and classic- the dress with a beauty that never fades’. I wanted Sarah’s dress to be current and fashion forward however this was not the main focus. I wanted the look and feel of the shoot to be one which in years to come would still be loved as much then as it is now.

One dress in particular popped into my mind as I arrived at work one morning. Anna. Anna is a wedding gown by one of our truly loved designers Augusta Jones. This dress oozes with elegance and is a clear timeless beauty. A structured satin-de-chine ball gown with a defined sweetheart neckline, plain sash and handmade covered buttons detailing the back of the dress, Anna certainly is a showstopper. Some gowns have an effortless and simple look and this is what makes them so stunning. They are a statement on their own, the ‘wow’ dress. Anna is exactly that and more.

Not only did I pick this Augusta Jones dress because of its features but also because it is a style very well suited to Sarah’s body shape. The beauty of ball gowns is that they accentuate the smallest part of us girls, our waist. Anna creates a feminine, flattering neckline, corseted body and then skims past hips and thighs with a princess-like full skirt. A lot of women aren’t completely comfortable or keen on the idea of having their arms out on their big day so jackets are the perfect solution to this. I chose Augusta Jones Chantilly lace jacket that features a boat neck with delicate scalloped edging and three quarter sleeves. Finishing off the entire look was a striking, sparkly belt, long veil dotted with sparkles all over and a vintage hair accessory. The simplicity of this dress allowed me to add these eye catching accessories and at the same time reflect Sarah’s fun, playful personality.
