Getting these images from our Emily just made my Friday perfect. Every now and again we meet a girl who is in love with a dress before she even tries it on. This is what happened to Emily, in fact the picture of the dress she bought kept coming to her in many guises, magazines, blogs and she knew it was the one. Then one happy day she came to Oxford and I was lucky enough to serve her. I popped it on her and she knew, her mum knew and I knew. I even feel emotional typing that. Emily has a fashionable mum and is extremely stylish herself so I knew she was very focussed on what she did and didn’t want.
Emily chose the utterly stunning Eloquence by her beloved Claire Pettibone. The colour was perfect with her skin tone and the shape flattered her amazing figure, she had a very clear idea on how she would style herself, wear her hair, her make up, nothing was left to chance and everything was given great consideration. Not in a fussy way but in a calm and thoughtful way. Emily wasn’t having a huge wedding and so it was all about marrying the man of her dreams in the right dress. It wasn’t about pomp or circumstance but true love and care. Every thing Emily did focussed on that.
There were days though (and Emily doesn’t know this ) I called her Emily “Kidding me on”. Emily’s indecision was a giggle, she tried the dress three times before she finally said YES. There were lots of phone calls to chat about sizing and then we moved onto veil no veil, veil no veil and then agreed on a simple long sheer veil by Sassi Holford. We then had the ivory or gold , gold or ivory decision to make. In the end we had it especially dyed to match her dress and it was perfect.
It came as no surprise when Emily came to her first dress fitting with non other than six pairs of shoes ! We just laughed and helped her choose. Such was such a lovely happy and positive girl and took all of our kidding her on with a great sense of humour. Her new husband is a lucky man to have such a treasure of girl to be his wife.
There was no doubt in my mind that Emily would look totally and utterly breathtaking on her day and SHE TOTALLY NAILED IT. Every thing was perfect as it should be.
I am proud to call her an Ellie Sanderson bride and will miss her little calls and emails of worry. However being a total OCD perfectionist myself I understood her need to be 100% sure and feel honoured she choose to buy her dress with me.
Thank you to Helen Cawte Photography for these fabulous images.
