Getting married in your 40s, 50s or beyond? Well, huge congratulations from all of us at Ellie Sanderson! We adore getting the chance to help our brides find their dream wedding outfit, whether they’re in their 20s or 70s, and we like to think we know a thing or two about helping you pick out the perfect dress, pant suit or jumpsuit to make your feel incredible on your big day.
MEET OUR REAL GLAMOROUS OLDER BRIDE
The wonderful Bev arrived at Ellie Sanderson terrified, wondering what on earth she was doing in a wedding dress shop in her 50s – that is, until we started to style her, and she came to life with confidence!
Ellie and the team talked to Bev to find out what her usual style was and the look she was after for her big day. We all worked together to find Bev’s perfect wedding outfit and WOW did she look incredible!

Bev and her husband on their wedding day
Instead of a traditional gown, Bev switched things up a bit and wore a pair of modern palazzo pants, with a Chantilly lace top and sweeping, floor-length, crepe maxi-coat, all from one of our favourite designers, Jesus Piero.
BE THE BEST YOU
After her perfect September wedding, Bev dropped us a line to let us know how it went and was kind enough to share some of the photos of her big day. Seriously, what a chic and beautiful bride!

One super-stylish and happy bride
“My outfit was fabulous, and I felt like a million dollars. Everyone thought it was absolutely lovely,” she said. “I had so many people ask me before the day what I was going to wear, and I just told everyone it was a ‘trouser suit’, so managed to keep the element of surprise until the very end. I had some fantastic comments from my guests, and my lovely husband whispered to me that I looked gorgeous as I joined him for the ceremony, so it was a definite hit!”

We are obsessed with this chic Jesus Piero bridal outfit!
“Thank you so much to you and all of your staff for the great experience in finding the right outfit for me. I feel quite sad in some ways that my Ellie Sanderson experience is over!”
WHAT TO WEAR AS AN OLDER BRIDE
The biggest rule on what to wear when you’re getting married in your 40s and over? There are no rules! Dressing as a mature bride doesn’t mean you are restricted in choices – it’s your day and you can wear whatever you like! At Ellie Sanderson we’ll always work with you to help you feel stunning and confident on your big day.
If you’re conscious of your tummy, Suzanne Neville (and her exquisite corsetry) is your best friend, with many gowns featuring invisible boning to help create a to-die-for silhouette, while still feeling incredibly comfortable. Who wants to spend their wedding day feeling restricted, when they should be drinking, eating, dancing and celebrating instead?

The gorgeous Bliss with high neck and sleeves is both bang on trend and forgiving.
If you prefer to keep your arms covered up, we’ve got a fantastic choice of elegant gowns with sleeves – or create the illusion with a lace top over your dress. There are so many choices out there and we’re always here to talk you through them all.

Elouise, Suzanne Neville is just perfect and elegant it also comes with an A line skirt if fitted scares you!

How beautiful are the sleeves on Iris by Sassi Holford?
Perhaps dresses aren’t your thing? In that case, a jumpsuit or – like Bev – a timeless pair of palazzo pants, paired with a lace top and statement cover-up, make excellent alternatives. So cool!
Accessories make the perfect finishing touch to your bridal look, so whether you opt for a veil, hair comb or have been inspired by our real bride to wear an embellished headband, we can guide you through the options.
