We are thrilled to be able to announce: WE ARE GETTING MARRIED! Yes I know you knew this already, but it is now official. We have a date: August 1st 2015. And we have a place: Hyde Barn, a stunning Cotswolds Wedding Venue on the Gloucestershire Oxfordshire borders comprising of a purpose built barn with an adjacent hotel on site. Take a look at their website here.
Annie, the Wedding Barn Manager, and the wonderful Abee (our main contact) have been very patient with our multiple visit requests, lists of questions, and late night emails. I promise we will be easier on you from here! Choosing our venue was such an important (and initially difficult) decision for us as not only was it to reflect us and our day, it had to be practical by having accommodation on site or nearby, and it had to be somewhere we would love to look back on through our photographs for the rest of our life. We had to think equally with both our heads and our hearts.
Hyde Barn have really capitalized on the wedding venue market by providing a service that we struggled to find elsewhere across Oxfordshire and the surrounding regions. Completed in the Spring of 2012, Hyde Barn is a newbie in the world of wedding barns, but they have done a fantastic job of using reclaimed wood and Cotswold stone to recreate a stunning rustic country barn with fantastic modern amenities and a perfect interior finish. The space is neutral and has been divided up well; all rooms have a view of the stunning Cotswold views and will neither feel to empty nor too full, whatever your guest numbers may be.
We were passionate about two other venues we had seen; one barn and one country hotel. Hindsight is a wonderful thing; the reason neither was “it” is because one was missing what the other had and vice versa. Hyde Barn is a rustic inspired barn with hotel amenities on site just a few strides away. The hotel, Fosse Manor, is a former rectory and is also made of Cotswold stone, although the creeping ivy slowly taking over is an act of nature we think only adds to the character even more. Find out more about Fosse Manor here.
The creative ideas are starting to roll in already; we aren’t into canapes so we are now looking for a funky alternative to keep our guests fed whilst drinking in the afternoon sun! Dean already has a DJ in mind (one of his very few delegated roles I gave him)! A bride advised me today there is no harm in starting early with your plans, it means a calmer journey lies ahead…as long as you don’t change your mind that is!
We are so excited to officially say it is booked now, and we look forward to keeping you updated along the way!
