Annabelle + Fraser | 11.08.2018

Today we’re talking to Annabelle, our stunning, natural beauty and Ellie Sanderson real life Bride who found us with only 6 weeks until her wedding day – it was fate! Her family garden wedding was simple, elegant and filled with beautiful summer blooms and so much joy. Read on to be inspired by their gorgeous day…

Team ES | Tell us about your proposal?

Annabelle | It was totally unexpected, on our 6 year anniversary. I called Fraser when I finished my usual Wednesday evening pilates class asking if he’d be early or late home that evening. He said he had to work late, so I just assumed anniversaries didn’t mean much anymore! I got home and I could see the living room lamp on through the crack in the door, then opened the door and there were candles everywhere!

Team ES | Did you pick up any tips during the planning stage?

Annabelle | We are both very organised, but especially when planning a wedding in 11 weeks you HAVE to be super organised. Also try to utilise people/family/friends- everyone is happy to help plan, and we had very few involved in our wedding who we didn’t know (florist, photographer etc).

Team ES | What was your wedding dress experience like?

Annabelle | I had a few shops to visit that day, with no idea what sort of dress I wanted and 6 weeks to go! We were just passing and didn’t have an appointment but Ellie said that we could pop in. It turned out that the bride due to attend her appointment was running late, so it was meant to be, and the same happened that afternoon when we went back- the previous bride had finished early! Ellie was very welcoming and accommodating and clearly told me which dresses were available at such short notice.

Team ES | How did you choose the ‘THE ONE’?

Annabelle I noticed the Made With Love collection first and was told which ones would be available. I didn’t think I would feel comfortable wearing such a figure hugging and low-cut dress but I tried it on anyway and very quickly realised that I really wanted it!!

Team ES | What did you love most about your dress?

Annabelle | The beautiful Israeli lace and the shape

Team ES | Your flowers were beautiful, how did you choose?

Annabelle | It was a small and personal, countryside, DIY kind of wedding and I told my florist friend that I wasn’t too keen on the typical triangle, conference style arrangements. We went through which pink, blue and white (ish) flowers were country cottage/wild and she did an amazing job- they were a massive highlight of the day and I didn’t want to put my bouquet down. Unfortunately my favourite fox gloves weren’t in season but we asked my great Uncle to paint one for the front of the order or service.

Team ES | Where did you get your wedding inspiration from (pinterest, magazines etc)?
Annabelle | A few bits from Pinterest but us and my family came up with lots of it, as well as suggestions from others.

Team ES | Did you walk down the aisle to a particular song?

Annabelle | Just the usual Bridal March!

Team ES | What about your first dance song?

Annabelle | It was just a quick first dance to We’ve Only Just Begun by The Carpenters. It was the song that Fraser played when he proposed as I used to sing The Carpenters to him when we first met. We didn’t practice or even decide to have it until when it happened!

Team ES | Most memorable moment of the day?

Annabelle | It was all lovely but I really liked arriving at the church and walking down the aisle (which I thought I would be too nervous to enjoy!)

Team ES | Did you follow the something old, new, borrowed, blue tradition?

Annabelle | Something old and borrowed was my mums pearl necklace, my dress was new, and I had a small blue garter!

Team ES | Tips for brides to be, what one thing would you recommend?

Annabelle | You will need flip flops in the evening, and…The hangover is worth it!

.

Team ES | What are you both up to now, did you go on honeymoon?

Annabelle We went on a little break to the Luberon in Provence which was beautiful, although we were a little too late to see the lavender fields. We wished it could have been longer, but we are now getting ready for a move to Singapore with Fraser’s job next month!!
