LIZ + BOBBY  | 14.09.18

Today we’re talking to Liz! Liz and Bobby’s wedding was a very botanical affair that featured a gorgeous Jesus Peiro wedding gown, a family quartet and the most gorgeous joyful smiles. Read on to be inspired by this glorious palm house wedding…

Team ES | Tell us about your proposal?

Liz | Bobby surprised me by the waterside on a weekend away to Copenhagen. I was so surprised that I skipped off with the ring and forgot to say yes. We spent the rest of the day celebrating with lots of champagne.

Team ES | Did you pick up any tips during the planning stage?

Liz | It’s really easy to get carried away. You need to consider what really matters to make it your special day.

Team ES | What was your wedding dress experience like?

Liz |Before I went to any shops I searched the internet for inspiration and tried to get my head around all of the varying styles and materials. After hours of research (stalking on Instagram) I was convinced that I was going to get married in a whimsical ethereal style dress and dragged my Mum around various shops in London one day, trying to find ‘the one.’ I tried on lots and lots of beautiful dresses but none of them quite made me feel like a bride. In the last shop, my Mum suggested I try something a bit different and pulled a Jesus Peiro gown from the rail, I put it on and instantly felt like the bride on the top of a cake. It was so different to what I wanted that I left the shop empty handed and a little bit (hugely) confused!

Team ES | How did you choose the ‘THE ONE’?

Liz | A week later I couldn’t stop thinking about it (the dress I tried on), I found the Jesus Peiro gown online at Ellie Sanderson, booked an appointment and before I knew it I said yes to the dress.

The girls at Ellie Sanderson were absolutely amazing from start to finish. I’m super glad that we went there.

Team ES | What did you love most about your dress?

Liz | The long train!

Team ES | Where did you get your wedding inspiration from?

Liz | Pinterest, google and lots and lots of magazines.

Team ES | Did you follow the ‘something old, something new…’ tradition?

Liz | I did!! My old and borrowed was my Mum’s sparkly clutch bag. My new was my dress and my blue was my engagement ring.

Team ES | We loved your style, were you following a certain theme for your wedding?

Liz | We kept saying our theme was wedding, which basically meant that we could do whatever we wanted.

Team ES | Did you walk down the aisle to a particular song?

Liz | I did, it was Canon in D played by Bobby’s cousins, The Dickinson Quartet!

Team ES | What about your first dance song and did you practice your dance or completely wing it?

Liz | Our first dance (awkward shuffle) was ‘Grow old with me’ by Tom Odell. Our guests will tell you that we definitely didn’t practice. I seem to remember a few people shouting ‘move’ when the track started…

Team ES | Most memorable moment of the day:

Liz | Super hard to pick, it was absolutely amazing from start to finish BUT if I had to pick then it would probably be the sun coming out just as I walked down the aisle.

Team ES | Tips for brides to be, what one thing would you recommend?

Liz | Ooo I have four:

  • Don’t drink too many bubbles on the morning of the wedding!
  • Don’t forget to eat!
  • If you have a long train on your dress make sure you have a bustle, otherwise you will spend most of the night removing guests from the back of your dress
  • Don’t obsess about the weather, they never get it right anyway!

Team ES | What are you both up to now, did you go on honeymoon:

Liz | We zoomed off on honeymoon the day after the wedding and had the most incredible time travelling around Sri Lanka before relaxing in the Maldives. We are now back at work, wishing we could do it all over again! Is it too early to renew our vows?
