Have you heard the news? Ellie Sanderson is growing. We’re so excited to share that we open our new St Albans bridal studio on the 19th June, and our appointment diary is open now. This is something Ellie has been wanting to do for a long time, and the behind-the-scenes journey has been one of careful consideration. Here’s she shares why it had to be St Albans.

Starting the search

“For almost three years, we have quietly searched for the right third location for Ellie Sanderson. But we didn’t want simply just another bridal shop or another pin on the map. Instead, we  were searching for a space that felt commercially intelligent, emotionally right and creatively aligned with where we believe luxury bridal is heading next.”

St Albans – the perfect location

“Since 2023, we have viewed spaces, studied locations, analysed changing bridal buying habits and challenged ourselves constantly on what modern brides truly want from luxury retail. When the opportunity in St Albans appeared, everything aligned.

The city itself felt perfect for us — affluent yet relaxed, fashion-aware yet deeply lifestyle-led. It was also close enough to London to attract an international and commuter bride, but with the calmness and intimacy that modern luxury increasingly demands.”

Time to grow

“At the same time, internally, we were ready. I have deliberately rebuilt the Ellie Sanderson business infrastructure to support up to five studios, without losing the personal experience we are known for. This is such an important part of Ellie Sanderson, and something I wasn’t prepared to  sacrifice when the time came to expand. St Albans arrived at exactly the right moment in that evolution.”

Offering something new

“What I love about St Albans is that it feels like Ellie Sanderson, while also feeling entirely different. I think our beautiful new house is the perfect place to start our next chapter. Over the last six months, we have worked non-stop behind the scenes, negotiating with new international designers, travelling across Europe and beyond, refining collections and carefully building what we believe is one of the most exciting luxury bridal line-ups in the UK.

“We’re not about traditional bridal retail – at Ellie Sanderson we’ve always championed a new kind of bridal experience. An experience where appointments feel slower, calmer and more intentional. Where brides are not rushed through rails of dresses, told to pick five then forced to pose, holding “I said yes to the dress” signs. Our stylists will thoughtfully guide our brides towards a complete bridal look that feels personal to them.

“It’s about far more than opening another store. Every detail inside St Albans has been considered. From Dior hand soap to Diptyque scenting, plush carpets, a private styling space and carefully layered interiors designed to feel luxurious, calm and deeply personal — nothing has been overlooked.

“I truly believe modern luxury is no longer simply about product but instead about how something makes you feel. And I want St Albans to make our brides feel extraordinary.”

Finding the right designers for St Albans

“Every designer chosen for St Albans has been selected with exceptional care. We work only with labels who allow us to customise, refine and adapt designs alongside them — creating gowns that feel truly individual to each bride.

“These are designers producing in ateliers rather than factories, those who still value craftsmanship, hand finishing, fabric, structure and collaboration, and those who work with us in tandem rather than simply wholesaling collections. It’s a distinction that matters enormously to us. And, from experience, I know it matters to our brides, too.

“I’ll be revealing more about the designers soon, but for now I’m thrilled to welcome Suzanne Neville, Shehzarin Batha, Tom Sebastian, Jesus Peiro and Hera Couture to Ellie Sanderson St Albans.”

Instead, we have carefully refined all three locations into individual fashion houses — each with its own style, atmosphere, designer edit and personal experience.

“This new chapter also feels very meaningful, personally. At a time when much of the bridal industry is facing enormous change and many independent boutiques are sadly closing, Ellie Sanderson is continuing to grow, evolve and invest. It’s something I’m so proud of.”
