As much as we love working with our incredible brides, us Ellie Sanderson girls do love getting out of our boutiques and letting our creative juices flow, and styled shoots are the perfect opportunity! Arriving at this winter shoot, the amazing Boreham House in Essex, all we could think about (whilst getting very overexcited!) was how perfect this stunning location was for the shoot and how beautiful our dresses would photograph in the venue!
A lot of the essential work for a styled shoot goes in beforehand and picking the dresses was definitely one of the most important tasks. Along with the very talented ladies from the hair, make-up and beauty team, we made a selection of wedding gowns that met the theme and reflected the vision for what we all wanted to create. Simplicity, elegance and timeless beauty, were just some of the words and phrases bouncing around as we discussed and pieced looks together. The dresses needed to be modern and contemporary, as all our dresses are, but also the dress that never goes out of style because of the traditional and simple aspects it possesses. After a little while, we had the perfect collection of dresses.
Of course, a Suzanne Neville or two was inevitable in the selection. Mayfair- a stunning ivory crepe fishtail with matching cropped jacket was modelled outside and captured in all its beauty as the light defined its silhouette and clean lines.
The perfect mixture of a dress that oozes style whilst remaining classic is Jesus Peiro’s Alaska. The strapless sweetheart with cord bodice and romantic tulle skirt turned heads as it was captured sweeping down the stairs inside Boreham House. Another by Jesus that had all of the team watching while it was being modelled was Ondina, a full lace soft fishtail that sits elegantly off the shoulder. The styling gave this dress a real Hollywood glam feel with a curled wedding up-do, embellished belt and gorgeous fur bolero. The grand piano was of course the exact place to showcase this ‘wow’ dress!
Halfpenny London was an obvious choice to showcase how effective and striking a relaxed, simple dress can be. We chose the lovely Daisy with its cross over ‘wrap dress’ style and v neck front and mirrored v back. Photographed with the model standing under an arch of roses and holding a breathtakingly beautiful trailing bouquet- it was definitely one of our favourites of the shoot.
Everyone involved played such an important role and the amount of talent and creativity buzzing around Boreham House was inspiring and definitely a lot of fun. As we packed and tidied everything away after a long, productive and creative day all we could think about was seeing the final photographs. Looking at them brings it all back to life again and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
